Third day of our Moroccan road trip started out with breakfast in the Dar Ziryab (http://www.darziryab.com/en/) in Fes. I must say that the Moroccan breakfast is carb loaded, but when in Morocco do as the locals do. The plan for the day was to meet up with one of Tracy’s co-workers and tour the Medina. Keep in mind that clicking on the photographs throughout the blog will bring up a full screen version.
Medina
After a short cab ride from the Dar Ziryab we arrived at the western gate of the media. The medina in Fes is more alive then the one in Casablanca and a lot larger. This being said, I was really glad to have someone along who understood where the places were that we wanted to see. This helped out a lot. I would recommend that if you do not know the language in places like this, speak with the place that you are staying to get a reputable guide reference from them. If you go this route make sure to agree to a price in advance for the day.
The Tanneries
We arrived in a {INS shop} were we were lead through to the building to a stairway that lead to the roof top. From the rooftop we were presented with sweeping views of the Fes’ Medina and the perfect overlook.
Lunch
After weaving through the medina and looking at quite a few of the shops we made our way back up the hill to Cafe Clock http://fez.cafeclock.com/menu/.
