Toward the end of the afternoon, Shelley and I found ourselves at the Hopi Point overlook. Here the South Rim trail runs very close to the parking lot. The trail was covered with packed snow and ice. This caused most people to stay parking lot to take in the view. Luckily I had on my ice cleats. Which allowed me to walk on the Rim trail by myself looking for the perfect composition. I wanted something would convey the depth of the Grand Canyon, as well as the distance to the North Rim. When I found my composition I was also able to frame in a good portion of the South Rim. This composition included a large section of Mohave Point. Below is the photograph that I made on that later winter’s afternoon.
