Just one more post about A Night on the Town in Madrid. While I was looking back at the photographs from Shelley and I’s short time in Madrid I found a few more that fell into the category of street photography. While we we walking the streets of Madrid I took multiple frames of the street scene below. I then blended them together to get more detail as well as range. The result produced a photograph with everyone becoming a ghost.
Monumento a Felipe IV – Equestrian statue of Philip IV
The statue is a representation of King Philip IV on horseback. This statue is first of equestrian rider to balance upon the rear legs of the horse. It is the work of Italian sculptor Pietro Tacca. Who based it upon the design of Velázquez and Galileo Galilei. Galileo Galilei acted as scientific advisor to ensure the stability of the statue.
Teatro Real (El Real)
The Royal Theater started was started in 1818 and took thirty-two years of planning and construction. In May of 1850 a Royal decree was issued for it’s completion. It only took an additional five months to complete. It was closed in December of 1925 because of damage that was caused by the construction of the Metro de Madrid. It re-opened in 1966 as a concert hall venue. The 1990’s is remodeled into a opera house again and opened in 1997.
