This page contains the list of all of the gear that I use to make photographs and YouTube videos. Of late, this has become one of the most asked questions either through social media or at art fairs.

Photography
Nikon D600
My primary camera for photography is the Nikon D600, which is no longer sold as new. You can pick it up used or go with the latest version, the Nikon D610. I have used this camera since 2013.
Lenses
Below is the list of lenses that I have used or am currently using:
When I want to go wide or photograph astrophotography, I use my Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8.
I use the Nikkor 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 is little now that I am thinking about taking it out my bag. This lense use to see a great deal of action when I needed to go wider than 70 mm. With the addition of the 14 -24, it mainly stays in the camera bag as added weight.
My Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 is used when I want to in tight on a composition. This lense has taken some abuse over the past few years and still does everything that I ask of it.
Filters
As far as filters go I have been using the Lee filter system for the past years. I am happy with the selection and quality of the filters that offer.
Lee Filters SW150 Mark II Holder
The Lee Filters SW150 Mark II Holder is used in combination with an adapter ring. These two pieces of equipment form a compression seal against a wide-angle lens and allow you to uses one to filters when making photographs.
Lee Filters SW150 Adapter for Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8 ED Lens
In order to attach the SW150 filter holder to the Nikkor 14-24mm lens you need Lee Filters SW150 Adapter for Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8 ED Lens.
Lee Filters Big Stopper
Sometimes you need slow things. That’s when I bring out the Lee Filters Big Stopper. This filter is used on more than just waterfalls.
Lee Filters Littler Stopper
The Lee Filters Littler Stopper is my go-to filter when I just need to slow things down a little bit. If you need just a little longer shutter speed, this filter will give it to you.
Lee Filters 105mm Landscape Polarizer
There are a lot of times when you need to knock the glare or reduce the reflections in a composition. That’s when the Lee Filters 105mm Landscape Polarizer comes into play. The nice thing about this filter is that it screws onto the front of the filter holder. By mounting the filter in this way, you stack multiple filters behind the polarizer if needed.
Lee Filters SW150 Circular Polarizer
Here again, the Lee Filters SW150 Circular Polarizer is used mainly to reduce glare and reflections in compositions. The SW150 is used on the 14-24mm f/2.8 and takes up one of the two filter slots.
Tripod
I use a TVC-34L carbon fiber tripod from Really Right Stuff. When fully extended, it is 5 feet and 7 inches tall. The ball head that I use is the BH-55 also from Really Right Stuff with a pano head. The bracket that you see on my camera is an L-bracket from Really Right Stuff specific to my camera body. I highly recommend Really Right Stuff It is pricey, but it is worth the investment.
Video
When I decided to start recording videos in the field, I first started out using my cellphone. At the time, I had an iPhone 6 Plus. It did rather well after I added on a few things. When I was using the iPhone 6 Plus, it needed an external microphone and a way to mount the phone to a tripod. More recently, I have switched over to using both an OSMO Pocket and a GoPro.
OSMO Pocket
I started using the OSMO Pocket after trying to use my iPhone 6 on two trips. Don’t get me the iPhone 6 did an excellent job recording video. I just need something less cumbersome to film with. For me, it has to be fast and easy. After all, I am also creating photographs, not just videos.
OSMO Addons
DJI OSMO Pocket Wireless Module
The DJI OSMO Pocket Wireless Module allows me to set the OSMO Pocket up and walk from it. I am hoping to start using to capture more B-roll in the field. It should make the process of filming easier when Shelley is busy creating her own photographs.
Wifi Base Tripod Adapter
The WiFi Base Tripod Adapter does what it says. With it, I can mount the OSMO Pocket and WiFi Module to any tripod.
GoPro Hero 8
I purchased the GoPro Hero 8 in a kit in order to start off with an extra battery. The GoPro will not be replacing the OSMO Pocket but will be used mainly for filming b-roll and time-lapses. This will allow me to film a-roll, me talking to the camera with the OSMO Pocket while capturing time-lapses.
Filters
PolarPro Cinema Series 3-Pack
So with the OSMO Pocket being a fixed aperture camera, you need filters to maintain the correct shutter speed when filming during various times of the day. That is when the PolarPro Cinema Series 3-Pack of filters comes into play. The pack includes an ND4, an ND8, and an ND16 filter. They attach to the OSMO Pocket magnetically.
Audio
For in the field and in studio audio I use or have used the following equipment.
Zoom H1n
Zoom H1n field audio recorder I this to record the majority of audio when in the field. I started using the Zoom H1n after the Arizona 2019 trip. I tried to get by with the audio from the OSMO pocket and found out that it just did not hold up under windy conditions.
Along with Zoom H1n recorder I purchased the Zoom APH-1N pack.
Sure SM7
The Sure SM7 is my in-studio microphone. I’ve had this since back in broadcast radio days.
Rode smartLav+ Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for iPhone and Smartphones
For the in-field pieces that I record to a camera, I now use the Rode smartLav+ Omnidirectional Lavalier. Lav mic connects into the Zoom H1n and provides me with clean audio when I am speaking to the camera.
Rode SC3 3.5mm TRRS to TRS Cable Adaptor
The Rode SC3 3.5mm TRRS to TRS Cable Adaptor is used to connect Rode smartLav+ when connecting to anything other than my iPhone or aging MacBook Pro.
Rode Video Micro
I bought the Rode Video Micro kit back in 2018 when Shelley and I planned our Pacific Northwest Coast Road Trip. The audio quality is very clean with very not wind noise. I still use it from time-to-time when record ambient audio tracks in the field.
