Desert View – Day Three
Desert View Grand Canyon 2017

This morning would be my last chance to photograph at Desert View. Shelley and I departing the Grand Canyon for Page AZ.  We ate breakfast and loaded up the vehicle for what was to be the longest driving day of the trip.

Our first stop would be Desert View at the eastern end of the south rim of the Grand Canyon.  Where I was hoping to make a photograph that shows the tower as well as the part of the Canyon. I was really hoping to find a location near the Canyon rim looking toward Desert View Tower without any footprints in the snow.  From our visit the previous day I knew that this would be nearly impossible.  I also wanted a foreground interest.  This would help to convey depth in the scene.  Shelley and I searched for untouched snow, but we were not able to find any.  What we did find was a set of tracks leading through the snow toward the tower.  These tracks so happened to be located next to a beautifully twisted tree.  I framed up my composition and below is the photograph that I was able to create.
